Catherine Yates, Business Analyst at ORIX USA and ORIX Foundation Board Member, was recently named 2017 Volunteer of the Year at the ORIX Foundation Dinner. She has contributed countless hours serving the community including her work as a volunteer at Promise House and Kaufman Christian Community Center. Catherine received a $1,000 grant to support a charity of her choice, which she is donating to Promise House.
The annual dinner celebrates the collective impact of nonprofit work in our community, and honors an ORIX employee who has gone above and beyond to make a difference. The Foundation raised $219,500 at this year’s event, which will go directly to supporting local charities that focus on strengthening vulnerable populations, including impoverished families, children at risk and veterans.
“It was an honor to receive the Volunteer of the Year Award,” said Yates. “Servant leadership is an important concept to me both in my work and personal life. I’ve found if you can share your talents with an organization you believe in, it’s easy to make a direct and positive impact in the life of someone else.”
Yates joined the ORIX Foundation board in 2012, and recently was chosen to lead the Community Engagement Corps, an employee volunteer group at ORIX USA. She is also a member of the planning committee for the inaugural ORIX Foundation 2018 Golf Tournament and has volunteered with organizations serving homeless children and families who need food assistance.
“Catherine’s dedication to the foundation and our community inspires us all to do more,” said Carol Greene, Foundation Director. “She recently rallied the ORIX IT department to create a special dinner, movie and popcorn night for the kids at Promise House. It meant a lot to the children, but also helped her team develop a stronger bond by working together to help others.”
